Appleton AFC is a volunteer run community football club. We rely on the enthusiasm and commitment across the club and are always looking for new volunteers.
Club Officers
Ken Jones
Chairman
Nicola Banks
Club Secretary
As the Club Secretary, Nicola works alongside other committee members and is responsible for looking after the administrative operations for the club including attending league meetings, organising committee meetings, ensuring affiliation, team and player registrations are completed, and ensuring the appropriate compliance. Nicola is also the main point of contact for Warrington Junior Football League and Cheshire County FA for the Mixed Teams.
Nicola is passionate about sport and keeping fit and after spending many years standing on the sidelines watching her sons play football (the youngest 2 play for Appleton), she thought it was time to give something back and volunteered to join the team at Appleton AFC in 2022.
Simon Dow
Coaching Officer
Iain Hill
Fixtures & Pitches
Iain’s role is to plan and organise the home fixtures and pitches for the club. This is done by using 2 new 3G pitches at Broomfields and Sandymoor, 3 Pewterspear Green Trust sites, and the New Lane pitches.
Like most, Iain started as a volunteer helper in 2012 when his son was in the academy and quickly became an FA Licensed coach a few months later. Twelve years on, he is still coaching/managing his son’s u16 and girl’s u11 teams.
Away from Appleton AFC, Iain continues his love of sport, beng an active ECB cricket coach, and is a Stand Manger at Manchester City.
Louise Williams-Eden
Child Welfare Officer
At Appleton AFC, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. That’s why we’re proud to have Louise as our dedicated Child Welfare Officer (CWO).
Louise brings over 16 years of experience in adult and child safeguarding, ensuring our club maintains a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all young players.
As a parent herself, Louise understands the importance of safeguarding from both a professional and personal perspective. Her son has been part of the football community since the age of five and currently plays for one of our Appleton U14s teams.
Outside of football, Louise enjoys long walks with her fox red Labrador.
Kieran McGing
Treasurer
I have been with the club since 2019 and have a son who plays in one of the squads.
My role with the club covers all things financial, centered around the budget setting process for the club. My primary aim is to make sure that your subs are spent in a responsible manner, whilst ensuring that the club operates within its means.

Kate also started the Ladies team in December 2018, encouraging ladies of all ages and abilities to enjoy football. The Ladies entered a team in the Cheshire Inspire League and are going from strength to strength.
Currently developing Pan Disability offering within the club.
Neil Peers
Head of Boys Academy
Having played for the club when I was 10 years old on the old Loushers lane pitches, when my oldest son started to play football Appleton was the obvious choice for us.
I had helped out on occasions previously and when a coach for my older sons team stepped down in 2015 I became fully involved seeing the team all the way through to their final season at under 18’s.
As my oldest son left for university my youngest son was joining the academy where I carried on coaching, in his second year I took over as Academy officer.
During my time we’ve help develop over 200 children go onto play in the Warrington Junior football league aiming to create 5 teams every year, each team with 2 FA level one qualified coaches.
I still coach my youngest son team, after another summer filled with tournaments we head into under 10’s this season.
Liam Lucas Cox
Kit and Equipment
Liam’s role is to ensure each team has the best equipment and kit. Tasks include ordering training and match balls, coaches kit, first aid kits and practice equipment for all teams within the club. Liam also liaises with our local kit supplier and trawls the internet to ensure we are getting top value for money.
To try to give back to the community, Liam started volunteering for the girls academy as coach in 2022. Within a short space of time, the Girls Under 7’s team grew from 4-5 girls to 20 girls.
Away from Appleton AFC, Liam is a keen fan of Liverpool FC and St Helens RLFC and enjoys time with family and friends.
